Name That Leave (of Absence)
No one wants to but we all have to deal with leaves of absence.
No one wants some dry presentation that numbs us to the core so that we learn nothing from the speaker.
Which is why we asked a spirited speaker – Barbara Trumbly – to provide us with information in a fun (if it’s possible) way to involve the audience so that we all learn more about a dry subject.
State and federal law provide for more than a dozen types of protected leaves (it’s actually closer to 2-dozen, but who’s counting?) This includes FMLA, CFRA, PDL, as well as disability leave provided as a reasonable accommodation.
This presentation is not provided by an attorney but an HR consultant who deals with real life situations every day.
Are you a covered employer? If so, what is your responsibility? What is the employees responsibility and leave entitlement? What should you do? And when?
This seminar will provide employers, human resource professionals, supervisors and managers with examples and information concerning the various leaves. Attendees will learn how to apply practical procedures to the most common real-world leave management problems.

Through their leadership, your EAC will be offering eleven seminars in 2012. These training sessions are the best you can find AND they are the least expensive, in keeping with the organization’s objective to share key information with employers in our county. Our presenters are experts in their subjects and we are so fortunate to have their contributions to our organization.
Look for more information in coming weeks and get your reservation in early. A new option for seminar registration is now available on line. We are using Brown Paper Tickets as an alternative to writing a check for the seminar fee. When you receive your seminar announcements, try it. You may find its convenience quite helpful.
I’d like to thank the officers and volunteers who have served Contra Costa County EAC so well over the past two years. They include: Miriam Grisard, Bart Gragg, Lindi Huntsman, Susie O’Bryant, Jane Louie, Tim Oshima, Barbara Trumbly, and of course our EDD Coordinator, Jim Ranger. It’s been a wonderful group to work with.
