So I Hired a Vet! Now What?

“Today’s Veterans are the most highly trained, technically advanced warriors who have ever existed. They don’t just march and shoot. They’re leaders and problem solvers. They show up and they get the job done. They are more “Agile” than any people who sit in a classroom to learn to be “Agile.” They know more about “Lean” than any practitioners in the civilian world.” – Joy Montgomery

Caring Company, Better Benefits…

According to a survey by monster.com, would-be employees seek a caring company with better benefits and fulfilling work over salary.  The survey revealed that potential employees want to work for a company “that truly cares about the well-being of its employees.”  What’s important?  Survey respondents say:

  • 84% prefer a fulfilling, challenging position
  • 82% cited job security as very important
  • 74% opt for an attractive benefits package
  • A high-base salary received a lower ranking at 66%

The survey further indicated a strong connection for companies that care for the welfare of employees, providing monetary security beyond the paycheck.  82% of workers say that being offered financial protection benefits shows that a company cares about the well-being of its employees.

Name That Leave (of Absence)

Name That Leave (of Absence)

No one wants to but we all have to deal with leaves of absence.
No one wants some dry presentation that numbs us to the core so that we learn nothing from the speaker.

Which is why we asked a spirited speaker – Barbara Trumbly –  to provide us with information in a fun (if it’s possible) way to involve the audience so that we all learn more about a dry subject.

State and federal law provide for more than a dozen types of protected leaves (it’s actually closer to 2-dozen, but who’s counting?) This includes FMLA, CFRA, PDL, as well as disability leave provided as a reasonable accommodation.

This presentation is not provided by an attorney but an HR consultant who deals with real life situations every day.

Are you a covered employer? If so, what is your responsibility? What is the employees responsibility and leave entitlement? What should you do? And when?

This seminar will provide employers, human resource professionals, supervisors and managers with examples and information concerning the various leaves. Attendees will learn how to apply practical procedures to the most common real-world leave management problems.
